Notes
In October 2019, the Climate Accountability Institute published a dataset quantifying carbon and methane emissions by the largest oil, gas and coal companies. The top 20 companies released a staggering 35% of all fossil fuel and cement emissions over the period 1965 to 2017 (CAI, 2019). These global polluters affect the lives of billions of people while making huge profits (Taylor and Watts, 2019).
